Patch is a platform for games people make. On Patch, a game is anything you can play: a game made for Patch, a mod for a game you already have, a crossover mod that brings one game into another, or a remix built from other games’ files.

For players

  • One Play button. Patch installs a mod and everything it needs, such as its mod loader, then launches the game for you. You never have to press Play in another launcher.
  • A Ready check. Every game lists the games it needs and whether Patch found them on your PC, with one fix for anything missing.
  • Your setup stays separate. Wherever the game allows it, mods go into a profile folder that Patch owns, so the game’s own files are left alone and uninstalling is clean.
Patch runs at patch.gg. The desktop app, which installs and launches mods, is coming soon.

For creators

What you make is a project. Each version you publish is a release, described by a patch.json file next to your files. Projects are addressed as owner/slug, for example mira/lantern-run, where the owner is your username or a team’s org. You never pick a category. Patch reads a release’s kind from its manifest: where it runs, and whether it uses files from other games. Every release goes through automated checks before players get it. Releases with code that runs on players’ PCs also get a human review. You publish with pch, Patch’s command-line tool, or straight through the API. Both work the same way for people, coding agents and CI.
Patch is in early development, and these docs grow with it. Anything marked Coming soon isn’t available yet.
